Ginger Tea

Ginger_TeaIngredients:
– 1/2″ to 1″ piece of Fresh Ginger
– 4 to 6 cups Filtered Water
– Raw Honey
– Lemon Essential Oil

Wash and peel ginger using a vegetable peeler or metal measuring spoon. Finely grate ginger with a zester (for a less intense brew, cut into coins). Boil water. Add ginger. Steep 5 to 10 minutes. Strain. Allow to cool (enzymes in honey are killed at temperatures above 110* Fahrenheit). Add 1 to 1 1/2 Tbsp. honey and  6 to 8 drops lemon essential oil.

Store in glass jar in fridge. Shake well and lightly heat (not to boiling) over stove before enjoying.

I have used this to soothe stomach troubles caused by anxiety. Ginger promotes the secretion of digestive enzymes that neutralize stomach acid. It also has phenols which relax the stomach and any irritated tissue, all while helping the intestines move already digested food along quicker.

Please note, children 1 year of age and younger should not consume honey.
